Him v. Them: A lopsided battle

This website is the peculiar hobby of a mainstream sports fan who doesn’t have the time or the technical chops to build and operate a site, especially one that, at best, may interest a dozen or so people and has a minimal — more likely infinitesimal — chance of influencing actual rule-makers.

But break-the-plane touchdowns irritate him enough that he’s done it anyway, creating what has become a one-man CWOT (colossal waste of time). Astonishing. As Bugs Bunny would describe him, “What a maroon.”

FTR’s editor has logged a multidecade career as a sports journalist, both as a staffer and freelancer, with bylines in publications such as The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Dallas Morning News, Arizona Republic and The Seattle Times, winning a number of awards along the way.

This website has nothing to sell other than a concept the editor believes would improve the quality of football. He expresses deep appreciation to the networks whose video footage is scattered throughout this website, reassuring them they are assisting a quixotic quest, not a clearing house for mugs and tees.

He dreams of the day when fans will no longer have to watch plays such as the one below be awarded six points.

Fox Sports

It has strangely become his life’s work to eradicate the airspace touchdown. Bugs speaks the truth: What a maroon. But he’s an earnest, determined maroon.
